I'M KRIS BURBANK.
I'm a leadership coach who helps parents succeed and thrive at home and work, especially amidst really big challenges.
We can all build strength from struggle if we have the right support.
Explore here to see if I can provide some to you.
Over the years, I've struggled to navigate the many roles in my life.
I’ve lost myself at times and become frustrated with my responsibilities as a professional, parent, and caregiver. Perhaps you know how this feels.
As someone who insatiably seeks out knowledge and meaning to help me navigate challenges, I've learned how expanding our perspectives, enhancing our understanding, and building our circles of support help us create more possibility from our realities.
This is especially true for families with disabilities. We lead at work, home and in our communities. And it's often hard to pursue the things we value without sacrificing ourselves.
This is my sweet spot.
An author, mother, thought-leader, and certified leadership coach, I love working with leaders who are parents so they can thrive in the workplace and outside it, even when their family situations present unique and formidable challenges.
Here's how I help parents like you...

My 1:1 coaching is completely personalized and co-created with you to provide support for work, home, and wherever life takes you.
Online Resource Hub for Families with Disabilities
My comprehensive digital hub of resources, information, and support is designed for busy parents, grandparents, adult siblings, and guardians of individuals with physical, developmental, neurological and other medical challenges. It provides actionable advice and insight on how to thrive, not just survive, in a self-paced, easy to use format.
Each module in the program includes lessons (teaching) that set up guided activities (practice) designed to enhance your ability to "embrace another normal" and the many responsibilities that go with it.
Users say it's a comprehensive collection of tools, inspiration, and valuable guidance -- all rolled into one.
Embracing Another Normal Book & Workshops
Written from the heart with practical tools and inspiring stories, my book offers an actionable framework to help special needs families build resilience, confidence, and joy. Co-written with psychologist and resilience researcher Dr. Linda Hoopes, it illustrates how making even small changes in the way we think about ourselves and our loved ones can help make life less overwhelming and more rewarding.
As one reader explains, "This book is like a new best friend who truly understands what it means to raise a child with special needs. It provides solace and suggestions to help traverse an unknown and life-long parenting path with creativity, hope and resilience."
“I wish I’d had access to such encouragement and reassurance when I was a young mom
—but I’m so glad to have it now. Truly grateful.”
--Dianne, Parent in Connecticut
Together we can make life less difficult and more rewarding.
As the proud mother of three adult children, including a son born four months premature with spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy, I continue to learn life’s lessons almost daily.
I know parenting is hard, and pursuing a professional life on top of it can make things even harder.
I also know that support and community and self-awareness can enable us to become the best versions of ourselves, achieve our aspirations despite difficult challenges, and help those we love even more than we think we can.
